Parties from Moldovan parliament take note of Constitutional Court's ruling

Chisinau, 15 April /MOLDPRES/ - The parties from the parliament have come up with reactions following the ruling by the Constitutional Court (CCM) on the possibility of parliament’s dissolution. Thus, the Party of Socialists (PSRM) informed that it did not recognize the decision and the lawmakers of the Shor Party and For Moldova Platform say this will deepen the political crisis. At the same time, the MPs of the Dignity and Truth Platform say they are prepared for the snap parliamentary elections.  

In a posting on his official page, PSRM leader Igor Dodon said that ‘’by the today’s ruling, most CCM judges (3 out of 5) usurped the high court of Moldova in the political interest of the country’s president, thus infringing the constitutional norms and the recommendations of the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission.’’   

“We have everybody witnessed attempts of usurpation of the state power by Maia Sandu, with the use of three CCM magistrates. The answer to these attempts might be: non-recognition of the CCM ruling, vote of no confidence to the three CCM members and demanding of their resignation, call on the international partners with the urge to intervene and to cease these attempt of coup d’etat,’’ Dodon said.   

The MPs of the Shor Party and the For Moldova Platform say that the CCM decision ‘’is not by far a settlement of the political crisis, but its deepening.’’  

The lawmakers of Dignity and Truth Platform said they had taken note of the CCM ruling, stressing that they were speaking out for snap parliamentary elections. ‘’The dignity and truth platform is prepared for snap parliamentary polls and approaches this process with maximal responsibility,’’ the reaction issued by the formation reads.

At a news briefing held after the ruling’s issuance, CCM president Domnica Manole said that, on the last period, the Court had been subjected to more attacks on behalf of politicians and journalists. ‘’I ask the representatives of the political forces, as well as the media ones not to undermine the image and reliability of the constitutional judges in the society. Last week, such practices reached a worrying level; sometimes even if such statements are subsequently withdrawn, the damage to the Court’s image is brought and the effects are irreversible,’’ Manole said.      

Today, the magistrates of the Constitutional Court ruled that ‘’the impossibility of the government’s formation in accordance with the Constitution’s provisions is ascertained as circumstance which justifies the parliament’s dissolution.’’
