Chisinau, 15 April /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today evening held a news briefing, during which she said that she would soon sign the decree on the parliament’s dissolution and would decide on the date of the snap parliamentary elections.
Maia Sandu said the decree would be signed following the motivated ruling by the Constitutional Court (CCM), noting that Moldova was in the emergency for the moment.
„The CCM decision opened the way for the snap elections. Time is ripe to put an end to one of the most corrupt parliaments in the country’s history. It is high time for us to leave behind a sad episode and look into future with confidence. We go to snap polls and give the people a new chance. The elections must be organized as soon as possible. A new parliament means the resetting of the state’s institutions, cleaning of the agencies from corrupt people, means the justice reform. The snap polls are imminent,’’ Sandu said.
Today, the Constitutional Court found out the circumstances justifying the dissolution of the Moldovan parliament of the tenth legislative period because of the impossibility to form the government. Immediately after the CCM decision, more parties came up with reactions. Thus, the Party of Socialists informed that it did not recognize the High Court’s ruling, while the lawmakers of the Shor Party and the For Moldova Platform say that the ruling will deepen the political crisis. At the same time, the MPs of the Dignity and Truth Platform said they were prepared for the snap parliamentary elections.
