As many as 689 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 16 April /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 5,731 samples have been processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours and 689 cases of infection with the new-type coronavirus were confirmed, of which six import ones. As many as 244,866 COVID-19 cases have been registered in Moldova so far.

According to data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), 7 out of all cases are medical employees: medical assistants –3 and auxiliary staff -3.

As many as 3,024 patients confirmed with COVID-19 are hospitalized in all, of whom 282 are in extremely serious condition (57 patients are connected to assisted breathing apparatus).

In the context, 5,522 persons are treated at home with light and moderate forms of coronavirus and 16,906 are under supervision at home.

Another 1,197 people have been treated. As many as 228,766 people were treated of COVID-19 in all.

At the same time, MSMPS informs about the registration of another 28 deaths triggered by COVID-19 and 5,521 people have died of coronavirus in all. The virus killed a physician who had worked at the Larga Emergency Medicine Association Point from the Briceni district. As many as 112 medical employees have died because of the COVID-19 infection till present.
