Moldova marks 105th anniversary of birth of poetess

Chisinau, 17 April /MOLDPRES/ - The 105th anniversary of the birth of poetess Magda Isanos, regarded by exegetists as the most profound poetess of the Romanian literature, is marked today.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, academician Mihai Cimpoi said that Magda Isanos was one of the most representative figures of the Romanian women’s lyrical poetry. Cimpoi noted that Isanos had been formed in the Bessarabian cultural environment. She lived only 28 years and suffered from an incurable disease. In this fight against the death, Isanos wrote quite deep lyrical poems, Mihai Cimpoi also said.
Magda Isanos was born in Iasi, Romania, on 17 April 1916. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Chisinau, where her parents, Mihail Isanos and Elisabeta Balan, were physicians at the hospital from Costiujeni. Magda Isanos finished the diocesan lyceum of girls from Chisinau and the Law Faculty of the Iasi University. In 1932, Magda Isanos debuted with poems in the Licurici school magazine. She cooperated with more publications. Isanos wrote poetry, prose, theatre and journalism.
The poems by Magda Isanos were translated into English, German, Hungarian, Russian, etc.
Magda Isanos died in Bucharest on 17 November 1944.
