Mihai Eminescu National Theater: 100th anniversary of founding

Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/- On 6 October we will mark the 100th anniversary of founding of the Mihai Eminescu National Theater (TNME) with the status of national theater. The establishment of the institution was influenced by several initiatives coming from some personalities of the Romanian culture and some cultural institutions.

The 2021 Centenary Year program of the Mihai Eminescu Theater in Chisinau takes place under the patronage of Moldovan President Maia Sandu and President of Romania Klaus Iohannis.

TNME director Petru Hadârcă said that the change of government in Bucharest caused in late April 1926 the resignation of Ludovic Dauș. 

After a thorough assessment of the band and the financial situation, he sends to the ministry several letters requesting the increase of the subsidy, a vital decision to ensure the theater favorable conditions for creation: the possibility to attract new acting forces, create shows of a high artistic attire, start repairs, renew furniture. In his quest to lead a theater, Topârceanu had vain illusions. Funding has remained the same. Disappointed, at the end of July, the poet resigned ", the TNME director said.

"This season, as usual, several tours were organized in the cities of Soroca, Falesti, Balti, Floresti, Rezina, Tighina, Ismail. Theater is an art of emotions and intelligence, which has the power to awaken the spirit and to unite hearts ", Petru Hadârcă also said.
