CNA officers raided central market in Chisinau

Chisinau, 20 April /MOLDPRES/- Several officials and economic agents were suspected of systematic corruption in issuing health certificates for the sale of meat in the largest market in the capital.
According to the CNA, several officials from the Sanitary-Veterinary Expertise Laboratory of the Municipal Directorate for Food Safety, as well as economic agents, were investigated by the CNA and anti-corruption prosecutors in 43 criminal cases, initiated on passive corruption and activate. They are suspected of having issued to traders, who were engaged in selling meat in the halls of the Central Market, certificates of quality and sanitary-veterinary against bribes. Five people were detained for 72 hours.
Following this morning's searches, five people were detained, including three veterinarians from the Laboratory of Sanitary-Veterinary Expertise and two economic agents. The criminal investigation actions took place at their homes, in the service offices and cars, but also in the halls in the central market of Chisinau.
The legislation in force provides for up to 10 years in prison for these acts, a criminal fine and deprivation of the right to hold public office.
