Book about well-known Moldovan opera singer published in Chisinau

Chisinau, 20 April /MOLDPRES/ - A book titled, Mihail Muntean în arta vocală din R. Moldova, (Mihail Muntean in the vocal art of Moldova) about a well-known opera singer, People’s Artist Mihail Muntean, signed by PhD in the study of arts and culture science Elena Nistreanu, has been recently published at a publishing house from the Moldovan capital.    

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Elena Nistreanu said that this work represented her thesis of doctor in the study of arts and culture science. The volume has 294 pages and was published in 200 copies within the programme on editing the national book, backed by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry.  

In the book’s afterword, a university professor from the George Enescu National University of Arts from Iasi, Romania, Viorel Munteanu, said, inter alia, that the book was an impressive musicological research, according to the dimension of the work of the well-known artist and teacher Mihail Muntean.    

Singer Mihail Muntean was born in the Criva village, northern Hotin county, on 15 August 1943. He studied at the Gavriil Muzicescu Arts Institute from Chisinau during 1960-1971. In 1977-78, he improved his performance at the La Scala Theatre from Milan along with Gina Cigna. Mihail Muntean is People’s Artist, knight of the Order of the Republic, laureate of the National Prize, Doctor Honoris Causa of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences and of the George Enescu National University of Arts from Iasi.
