Exhibition dedicated to librarian opened at Moldova's National Library

Chisinau, 21 April /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of documents and publications titled, The Library from library: well-known bibliologists of the nation, was opened at the National Library of Moldova (BNRM) today, in the context of the Librarian Day, World Book and Copyright Day.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the BNRM director, Elena Pintilei, said that the library had always been a place of refuge for people willing to get knowledge and the centre of the universe of knowledge. She noted that, in the age of the information, the library was consolidating its importance and mission of cultivating and educating the society through books.
According to Pintilei, the exhibition brings in the focus of the wide public documents from the BNRM’s collections on the work of the most famous Romanian bibliographers from the modern period till present.
The exhibition can be visited till 14 May 2021.
The World Book and Copyright Day is annually marked on 23 April and is organized by the UNESCO, in order to promote reading, publication and the copyright. The first event of this kind was held in 1995. Starting from 2010, at a proposal by the Librarians’ Association of Moldova, while honouring and appreciating the contribution brought by the library and the librarian to the development of the Moldovan culture, a presidential decree was signed establishing that the professional Day of Librarian is annually marked in Moldova on 23 April.
