Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/- Constitutional Court judges announced today that they took note of the Parliament's Decision on adopting the Declaration on the recognition of the captive character of the Constitutional Court.

"From a strictly constitutional perspective, the court judges note the exclusively political character of this decision. According to article 121 (1) of the Regulations, such acts of the Parliament produce only political effects ”, a communiqué published on the institution's website reads.

The Court judges respect the right to freedom of political expression of parliamentarians, but reiterate that such statements undermine the rule of law, the image of the Constitutional Court and jeopardize the implementation of a true culture of constitutionalism in the Republic of Moldova.

Also, they noted that under the Article 140 of the Constitution, the decisions, notices of the Constitutional Court are final and cannot be appealed, are binding on all state authorities.
