Road segment leading to southern Moldova to be reconstructed

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - The works for rehabilitation of the republican road R34 Hancesti – Leova – Cahul – Giurgiulesti are carried out on a length of 83 km, being divided in two segments. During a visit to the construction site, representatives of the State Administration of Roads (ASD) today verified the carrying out of topo-geodetic works, clearing works, construction of embankments and relocation of engineering utilities.
The road segment, under repair, crosses the Hancesti town, the village Sarata-Galbena, Hancesti district, and the Leova town, the settlement Cneazevca, Sarata Noua, Hanasenii Noi, Leova district, and the Cantemir town. ‘’The improvement of the conditions of road traffic on the national road will ensure the development of the infrastructure, citizens’ access to social institutions, with measures of protection against floods in some regions,’’ ASD said.
The contract, signed with a company from Turkey in late February 2020, sees the reconstruction of the present road system, restoration of two bridges and 57 small bridges. The entrepreneur took commitment to fully complete the works by late February 2023. The project on repair of the R34 national road takes place from a loan worth over 56 million euros, provided to Moldova’s government by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
