Moldova to get over 24 million euros from World Bank for purchase of vaccines

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/- The World Bank has approved additional funding worth 24.8 million euros for the Project Emergency Response to COVID-19 in Moldova, which will support Chisinau government in providing people with vaccines against the new coronavirus.
The additional funding will support the purchase of eligible vaccines against COVID-19 to cover 30% of the population during stages 2 and 3 of vaccination. Also, within the respective financing, technical and financial support will be provided to vaccinate 50% of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. "The funding will facilitate investment in data systems, refrigeration chain infrastructure and social responsibility to ensure successful vaccination," the World Bank press release said.
"The purchase of vaccines from various sources will be supported, including direct procurement from manufacturers, the purchase of excessive vaccine stocks through the COVAX platform and other states, taking into account the value for money, regulatory standards, the capacity of the national immunization system, as well as the delivery time”, the quoted source said.
