Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - The 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre (TNME) will be marked on 6 October. The institution’s foundation was influenced by more initiatives coming from personalities of the Romanian culture and other culture institutions. A stage manager reformer in Chisinau was Aurel Ion Maican.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, TNME director Petru Hadarca said that 1928 had been the year when Chisinau turned from a cultural province into a true creation laboratory, a centre of artistic searches and experiments catalyzed by the revolutionary and inventive spirit of stage manager Aurel Ion Maican, backed by director Corneliu Sachelarescu.
According to Hadarca, the actors were put in the situation to give up the naturalist and psychological acting and explore the theatricality, discover the joy and effects of the playful exercise. Not all actors accepted the challenge; yet, a group of actors were receptive and interested in the new interpretative techniques. With the support of Sachelarescu, the stage was modernized and a true organ of lights was set. Thus, the effects of lights and the fascinating pictures, made with its help, entered in the spectacular acting of the theatre from Chisinau
”In Chisinau, the audience was discovering a new theatrical stylistics. It seems that even the commentators were not prepared to comment on a play, which was not to be ‘’a copy of the reality,’’ but a pretext, an ACTING ‘’making tricks as the material time and the theatre’s means allowed this.’’ In summer, while summing up the results of the theatrical season, the commentator from Rampa was writing: ‘’According to all evidence, the Chisinau National Theatre does its utmost to achieve its great goal or protector of the beauty. And this obvious age of flourishing of the Bessarabian theatre is due only to the love and ability of Sachelarescu along with the worthy stage manager Aurel Maican’’ The theatre is an art of emotions and intelligence, which is experienced in reality and has the power to wake up the spirit and unite the hearts,’’ Petru Hadarca said.
The schedule of the 2021 Centenary Year of the Chisinau-based Mihai Eminescu Theatre is carried out under the high patronage of President Maia Sandu and the one of Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.
