Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/- The evolution of the epidemic situation and the development of the vaccination process of medical staff against COVID-19, other risk groups were the main topics discussed today by Gagauz governor Irina Vlah, who met with a group of heads of medical institutions.
According to managers in the sector, today, 61.3% of the employees of the health system in the region got vaccinated against the new coronavirus. In the last two days, 1,403 people have got vaccinated, or a total of 1912 people have been immunized. "The condition of the vaccinated people is good. Serious side effects have not been identified, "said doctors.
At the same time, the participants in the meeting spoke in favor of the need to carry out a more intensive national vaccination campaign, in order to be able to give up health restrictions and enter a more predictable area for economic activities.
"Vaccination is the personal choice of each person. Doctors can only recommend and try to convince people to accept vaccination - we have no other tools. It is now important for the country to have a sufficient number of vaccine doses and only doctors, not politicians and all sorts of experts, to talk about the vaccine and vaccination. We urge the press to take the utmost responsible attitude towards vaccine and vaccination. However, when we get sick we go to the doctor and not to politicians or journalists. Let's not stop doctors from doing their job so complicated. Let's not prevent them from saving our relatives", said Irina Vlah.
In the last 24 hours, ten new cases of COVID-19 infection have been found in Gagauzia. So far, 6,749 infected people have been registered in the region. On 6 May 64 patients were hospitalized in COVID centers in Gagauzia, of which 56 had the virus confirmed.
