Moldovan president lays flowers at Eternity Memorial Complex on 9 May day

Chisinau, 9 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today morning laid flowers at the Eternity Memorial Complex, in the memory of the millions of people who had been killed in the World War II, the presidential pres service has reported.

„I expressed respect and gratitude for those who had fought and lost their lives for the peace to return to the European continent in May 1945. Hundreds of thousands of them were our fellow countrymen, they were our grandfathers and great-grandfathers,’’ Maia Sandu said.

The head of state stressed that the sacrifice of those who had fought cannot be forgotten. ‘’They teach us how precious the peace is. We are obliged to preserve it, to value the life and give our people the chance to live their years with hope, in peace and flourishing,’’ the president added.
