Registration of candidates for MP position starts today

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission / CEC / announces that the period for submitting documents for registration of candidates for MP position starts today.

The right to nominate candidates for parliamentary elections is held by: parties and other socio-political organizations registered, as established until the election date, in accordance with statutes (regulations) and legislation in force, electoral blocs, registered by the CEC and citizens of the Republic of Moldova who submit their own candidacy (independent candidates).

Under the law, the candidate for the position of MP will present the set of documents established by the Regulation on the peculiarities of nomination and registration of candidates for the position of deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, approved by the CEC, including: application for registration in writing; report of the meeting of the competent body of the party or of the electoral bloc on appointment of the list of candidates; subscription lists with a sufficient number of signatures; biographical data of the candidate; the candidate's statement regarding his / her consent to run for MP, the statement on his / her own responsibility about the lack of legal / judicial interdictions to run; the declaration of assets and personal interests of the candidate for the last 2 years prior to the year in which the elections take place; a statement on one's own responsibility regarding the non-existence of legal / judicial restrictions to run or hold public office and the absence of final acts of finding regarding the regime of declaring assets and personal interests, incompatibilities and confiscation of unjustified assets, acts that are not prescribed; electoral symbol in electronic and paper form; copy of the candidate's identity card.

The lists of candidates will be set up respecting the minimum representation quota of 40% for both sexes. The positioning of the candidates on the lists is done according to the formula: at least four candidates for every ten places.
