Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu today paid a working visit to Cahul district, where she had several meetings with mayors and other representatives of the local public administration, with doctors and entrepreneurs, the presidential press service has reported.

"I also had a meeting with Mr. Nicolae Dandiș, Mayor of Cahul, and I was glad that we have a common vision on the need to work together for the benefit of local communities and to meet the needs of citizens, whether they are in the center of the country or in the most remote village. All the people of Moldova deserve to live well at home.

These things must be achieved as soon as possible by the next government, in order to develop the communities in the Republic of Moldova - by supporting local businesses, creating job opportunities in localities and improving living conditions ", said Maia Sandu.

The head of state also discussed with APL representatives about the national afforestation program that the Presidency is working on, about the delivery of vaccines in localities, so that people have access to them and the construction of water supply networks. The mayors mentioned the need to develop a normative framework regarding the Lower Prut Reserve, for the protection and conservation of ecosystems.

At the Cahul District Hospital, President Maia Sandu discussed with doctors and medical workers about the health situation and the health system. The head of state thanked them for their immense efforts, especially for the sacrifices made in the last year to fight the pandemic.

In the afternoon, the head of state met with several businessmen from the district at the Business Incubator opened in Cahul with the support of the European Union. According to the president, the problems are common to the whole business environment: the effects of the pandemic, the abuses by the control institutions, the lack of support from the government in a year of drought and crisis.

"Citizens will have the chance to elect a clean parliament that will start cleaning up institutions, economic development and stimulating business opportunities. The next government must come up with clear policies to support our entrepreneurs. A healthy business environment will ensure good jobs and income for people to stay at home, "said Maia Sandu.
