Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova today received 1.6 million medical gloves and 3,000 FFP2 protection masks worth 537,500 euros in all. The assistance is delivered to Moldova with the financial support of Germany’s government and the European Union, in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Attending the donation ceremony, the state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), Igor Curov, thanked the foreign partners for support. ‘’The COVID-19 pandemic is in continuation a test of resistance for the health system of Moldova. The strengthening of the medical system, to cope with the pandemic, is a priority for the ministry. We express gratitude for the medical equipment provided by Germany, European Union and WHO, strategic partners in the fight with the COVID-19 infection, which will be distributed to all medical institutions from Moldova, as well as of the Transnistrian region, in order to protect the first-line heroes,’’ Curov said.
Ambassador of the European Union to Moldova Peter Michalko said that Europe was providing tangible assistance for the medical system of Moldova and for the protection of the country’s citizens. ‘’The new consignment will bring a considerable contribution to these joint efforts.
