The Green Spaces Household Association has drawn up the map of the areas in the capital where ragweed grows, Ciocana district is the most affected area.

The company has published a map of Chisinau municipality showing 122 locations where ragweed is present, the total spread of this plant being 208 hectares. The largest area with ragweed is in Ciocana, 43.26%, and the least affected is the Center sector, with only 5.02% of the total hectares.

According to experts, this map will be used both to guide the sanitation activities that will be implemented and to inform citizens allergic to this plant, to avoid areas.

At the yesterday's meeting of the city hall, representative of Green Spaces said that the work of cutting the plant has already started, which is now in its infancy and is less harmful for Chisinau residents.

The government has adopted a regulation on combating and preventing the spread of ragweed. The document stipulates that the sanitation works will be carried out every year by 30 May. At the same time, according to the regulation, every inhabitant of Chisinau has the obligation to cut the ragweed plant present on its own land. Persons who do not comply with this regulation can be fined from 600 to 1,500 lei for private people and from 3,000 to 6,000 lei for legal entities.
