Number of COVID-19 infected patients decreasing in Gagauzia

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/- In the last two weeks, in Gagauzia there was a decrease in the number of hospitalized patients diagnosed with COVID-19. At the same time, there has been an increase in the number of patients with severe form of the disease, the Comrat Executive press service has reported.
During a meeting today with heads of the autonomous medical institutions, governor Irina Vlah said that due to medical staff skills, it was possible to ensure the efficient functioning of the health system and save people's lives.
"The year 2020 required maximum personal mobilization and you demonstrated to the whole society a special example of social responsibility. The authorities managed to allocate over 17 million lei to fight the epidemic. At the same time, we managed to attract the assistance of our partners worth 10 million lei as medical equipment. We still can't say the epidemic is over, so we need to be prepared for a new wave of infection," said Irina Vlah.
According to the health department of Gagauzia, on 20 May 60% of medical staff got vaccinated against COVID-19. A total of 2,977 people in the region have got vaccinated.
