Deputy premier for reintegration meets Head of EU Delegation in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari today had a working meeting with Head of the European Union Delegation in Moldova Peter Michalko.

According to the Reintegration Policies Bureau, the officials tackled aspects on the Transnistria-related problems, recently recorded developments within the present dialogue platforms, current subjects on the agenda and the priority activities which are to be promoted on the immediately next period. The sides also noted the prodigious cooperation between Moldova and EU on the management of the Transnistrian file.

Proceeding from EU’s capacity of participant in the 5+2 format of talks, the officials pointed out that the Moldovan side relied on an active EU’s contribution to the settlement of the problems contained in the so-called Berlin+ package, and which are topical: full reestablishment of the free movement in the Transnistrian region, including for the officials/civil servants of Moldova, settlement of the difficulties faced by farmers from the eastern Dubasari district, improvement of the human rights situation, etc.

Acting Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari highly appreciated the long-lasting support provided to Moldova by EU. In particular, she highlighted the importance of the humanitarian assistance provided on the pandemic period to the residents from all over Moldova, including the Transnistrian region and from the perimeter of the Security Zone, due to which the quality of the medical services provided improved and the people hit recovered quicker.

For his part, Ambassador Peter Michalko said that EU was open to further provide Moldova every support to implement projects and the reforms assumed for the benefit of the citizens, as well as to contribute to the backing of the settlement process.

In the end of the meeting, the officials agreed on maintaining an intense dialogue on all up-to-date subjects.
