Moldovan rower qualifies for Olympic Games due in Japan

Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/ - Rower Serghei Tarnovschi has qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The National Olympic Committee informed about the qualification of the Moldovan sportsman of Ukrainian origin for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Tarnovschi won a sprint canoe race of 1,000 metres at the qualification tournament, held in Russia. He registered a result of 4:14.86, followed, at a distance of 33 seconds, by Ilya Shtokalov with 4:15.33.

Serghei Tarnovschi is at his second participation in Olympic Games. At the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016, the sportsman won the bronze medal at the event of sprint canoe of 1,000 metres; yet, he failed the anti-doping test and the result achieved was cancelled.
