New vaccination marathon to be held later this week

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau city hall and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection will organize a vaccination marathon this weekend at the Palace of the Republic.

Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban announced today that from 28 May at 9.00, for three days, the local public authorities together with the Ministry of Health will organize the vaccination marathon.

He called on Chisinau residents to get vaccinated, saying that "although statistics from recent weeks show we have a significant decrease in the number of coronavirus infections, it is not time to relax." "Please take responsibility for vaccination, we are waiting for you at any vaccination center and point, regardless of place of residence and residence visa," Ceban said.

He noted that in order to return to normalcy, to life without restrictions, it is necessary for the inhabitants of Chisinau to get vaccinated in a proportion of 70-80 percent.

On 21-23 May, a similar marathon was organized by the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy Nicolae Testemitanu and the Association of Medical Students and Residents of Moldova, with the support of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.

A number of 4,068 citizens got vaccinated during the event. According to the organizers, 2,500 doses of Pfizer vaccine, over a thousand doses of AstraZeneca serum and several hundred doses of Sinopharm were used during the 54 hours of the marathon. People were able to get vaccinated non-stop based on their identity card and came in large numbers from all over the country, not just from the capital.
