Moldovan deputy PM, OSCE Special Representatives discuss current situation in negotating process

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Transnistrian Settlement Thomas Mayr-Harting, according to the agenda planned, had an official meeting with Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari, within a working visit to Moldova today, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.    

The discussions were focused on the dynamic registered in the process of negotiations and in the Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue. The sides highlighted that, despite the limited powers of the central public authorities on the period of the acting cabinet’s work, the presents formats of interaction are functional. At the same time, during 1 January -24 May 2021, three working meetings of the political representatives were held and ten ones at the level of the sectoral working groups and experts of the railway transport sector will convene at a meeting on 25 May.  

The acting deputy PM specified the developments marked in the registration of vehicles with neutral plates, the efforts taken by Chisinau to boost this process.  

The officials emphasized the compulsoriness of the sustainable settlement of the problem of free movement in the region, with the return to the mechanism of movement without written pre-notifications of Tiraspol for the officials/civil servants from Moldova who pay private visits or cross the settlements from the left bank of Dniester and the Bender city. The sides also stressed the need to improve the situation as to the human rights in the region and solving of individual cases, removing groundless obstacles to the work of farmers from the Dubasari district, to have access to their lands and freely cross the administrative line, avoid unilateral actions as to the Latin-script schools and endowing all schools with their own buildings and complying with the education requirements.     

The officials evoked the necessity or returning to the progress made in the Berlin+ package and continuing the work on priority subjects, in the legitimate interests of the citizens.

The acting deputy prime minister set forth Chisinau’s support measures for the residents of the region, in order to protect/reestablish/recover their health on the pandemic period. Cebotari pointed out the medical humanitarian assistance in the regions from consignments of aid meant for Moldova, including the doses of vaccine against COVID-19 authorized internationally, as well as the trainings provided jointly with the World Health Organization by specialists from Chisinau for the medical staff from the left bank of Dniester for the efficient organization of the residents’ immunization process and implementation of clinical protocols.    

The Chisinau official reiterated that, this year, the priority was to maintain the functionality and productivity in all formats of talks, including in the Joint Control Commission and planning the next round of 5+2 negotiations, ensuring the observance of the inalienable human rights and free movement to the left bank of Dniester, protection of the population’s health and combating COVID-19, preserving the atmosphere of trust, excluding the unilateral approaches and settling the citizens’ urgent problems.

The Chisinau official established that the Moldovan side would move to this end and would contribute to the re-boosting of the processes for achieving positive results in people’s interests and promoting the negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement. Olga Cebotari voiced hope that, in carrying out these desiderata, Chisinau would enjoy every support of the OSCE chairmanship-in-office and the firm confidence that tangible progress can be made through joint efforts.
