Moldovan foreign affairs ministry makes specifications on forcible landing of Athens-Vilnius airship

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) keeps a close eye on the situation concerning the forcible landing of the Athens-Vilnius aircraft in Minsk. Moldova’s Embassy in Vilnius informed MAEIE that no Moldovan citizen had been onboard the airship, the MAEIE public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.

MAEIE backs the calls of international partners for the starting of an independent investigation, in order to elucidate all circumstances of the occurring of this incident, including the detaining of a Belarusian journalist.

At the same time, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry reiterates Moldova’s consistent position of encouraging the observance by all members of the international community of the principles and norms of international law.
