Moldovan electoral body asks elecoral contenders to suspend public offices held

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - The central electoral administration has demanded that the people registered as electoral contenders suspend themselves from the public offices held.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) warns about the need to observe the legal provisions on the suspension of the candidates registered for the MP seats from the positions they hold, which fall under the action of the provisions of the Article 13, paragraph 3, of the Electoral Code.
Thus, starting the moment of registration as electoral contender, the people holding the offices of deputy prime minister, minister and cabinet member ex-officio, head of the central public authority, district head and deputy head, mayor and deputy mayor, praetor and deputy praetor will suspend their work.
The deadline for submitting the documents for the registration of the candidates for the position of lawmaker in Moldova’s parliament expires on 11 June 2021.
