Moldovan president meets group of European MPs

Chisinau, 25 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today morning had a meeting with MEPs: president on behalf of the European Parliament at the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, Andrius Kubilius, Andrej Halicki and Siegfried Muresan, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state reviewed the efforts taken to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in Moldova and thanked for the EU’s assistance. ‘’I conveyed to the European MPs my gratitude for the support of the European institutions in bringing the vaccine to Moldova and supply of our health system with protection and medical equipment which save lives,’’ Maia Sandu said.
At the meeting, the sides discussed also the agenda with the European Union, political situation in Moldova and preparations for the snap elections. ‘’It is very important that we give all citizens of our country, no matter where they are, the right and possibility to vote. I voiced hope that enough people will support, at the elections, Moldova’s transformation into a modern state. This will allow us starting a truthful reform of justice and making a joint anti-corruption effort in the country,’’ the head of state stressed.
President Maia Sandu also said that, once the foreign assistance de-blocked, Moldova would be able to launch the plan on economic recovery of the country, respectively, to start the state’s modernization. ‘’We rely on the support of our European partners in the implementation of this vision,’’ Maia Sandu added.
