Romania provides new consignment of equipment to more medical institutions of Moldova

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - The government of Romania today provided a consignment of protection equipment to the medical employees of the Reproduction Health Offices from Moldova, through Romania's International Development Cooperation Agency (RoAid) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Attending the event on the reception of the equipment, the state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), Tatiana Zatic, said that the consignment of individual protection equipment offered represented a gesture of solidarity with the health system of Moldova and an essential support for the medical staff who works at the reproduction health centres from Moldova, who will be protected against the COVID-19 infection.
Romania's International Development Cooperation Agency was represented by its director, Catalin Harnagea at the event. In his message, Harnagea said that ‘’Romania, through the RoAid Agency, was able contribute to the purchasing of this protection equipment, which is so necessary in the prevention of the COVID-19 infection. This is a special moment, as we can again see the fruits of the partnership between the Romanian Agency and UNFPA Moldova for backing the programmes in the health sector of Moldova.’’
The equipment donated today will reach 47 Reproduction Health Offices of Moldova and the Centre of Reproduction Health and Medical Genetics at the Mother and Child Institute. The individual protection equipment, worth 27,959 dollars, include 192,143 disposable medical protection masks of the type II R, 6,000 reusable protection screens, as well as 129,000 disposable medical gloves. The boxes with equipment have been already delivered to the Mother and Child Institute, which will distribute them to the Reproduction Health Offices from all over the country.
About 150 medical employees work in the network of health reproduction offices, who provide services for no-risk maternity, family planning services and prevention of the cervical cancer.
