Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - The 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre (TNME) with status of national theatre will be marked on 6 October.
The institution’s foundation was influenced by more initiatives coming from personalities of the Romanian culture and culture institutions. Yet, on the period1944-1953, till the death of death of Stalin, the theatre’s work was under the strong ideological influence of the group of actors educated in Tiraspol, the current TNME director, Petru Hadarca, said.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, Petru Hadarca stressed that the atmosphere of Bolshevik terror and intransigence had marked the actors from Tiraspol and modeled their personality deeply, determining also their aesthetic options.
”The Latin alphabet was banned, the actors no longer had obligation to take care of the correctness of the language spoken, on the contrary. The theory of the two languages and nations was fabricated. So far, the history of the Romanian language theatre from Tiraspol is covered only in studies published in the Soviet period, tributary to the official ideology. It is not known the exact number and names of the theatre people who were sacrificed by the communist regime on that period. The archives are in the hands of those who are waiting for the return of Stalin’s iron hand. The theatre is not only an art of emotions and of the intelligence; the theatre is a living and sensitive organism. In an nightmare reality, deprived of freedom, stripped off the tradition of the past, sunk in the avalanche of the merciless class hatred, the theatre was struggling along with its audience looking for a spiritual benchmark, a grain of hope,’’ Petru Hadarca added.
The schedule of the 2021 Centenary Year of the Chisinau-based Mihai Eminescu Theatre is carried out under the high patronage of President Maia Sandu and the one of Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.
