CNA detained two employees of National Investigation Inspectorate

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/- Two employees of the National Investigation Inspectorate / INI / were detained by CNA in a passive corruption case. They were denounced on anti-corruption line by a man from whom they allegedly demanded money to get rid of a criminal case.

According to CNA, the two employees were identified with the support of the specialized subdivisions of the General Police Inspectorate. They allegedly intimidated the man, ordering him to give them a bribe of 500 euros so as not to hold him accountable for the alleged scams.

He also said that INI officers would have threatened him that if he did not give them the money, they would detain him. A criminal case was initiated for passive corruption, and if found guilty, the two law enforcement officers risk imprisonment and deprivation of the right to hold office.
