Family of Moldovan woman repatriated from Gaza Strip conveys thanks to government for successful operation

Chisinau, 2 June /MOLDPRES/ - The government has received a letter of thanks submitted on behalf of the family of Aliona Hamdia, a Moldovan citizen repatriated from the Gaza Strip on 27 May 2021, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
„On behalf of the Hamdia family, we expresses the sincerest thanks to Moldova’s government, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, Moldova’s Embassy in the State of Israel, Moldova’s Embassy in Ukraine, Moldova’s Embassy in Ankara for the operative and professional involvement in our brining home in safety from the Gaza Strip.
We express special gratitude to the entire diplomatic corps, which is an exceptional team and serves the country with much passion. Due to an army of professional civil servants from Chisinau, Kiev, Odessa, Ankara, Tel-Aviv, Cairo, we managed to arrive home in safety and could embrace our parents and close relatives.
We appreciate much the allocation of a large sum by Moldova’s government on this purpose; we felt that we had a state behind us which can help us. Certainly, this was a successful mission. Continue to provide the support necessary for the Moldovans at risk in the long run as well,’’ reads the letter of thanks by Aliona Hamdia.
On 27 May this year, 13 Moldovan citizens from the Gaza Strip were successfully repatriated, due to the necessary actions undertaken by the crisis cell from the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), together with the national competent institutions, Moldova’s Embassies in Tel-Aviv, Ankara, Kiev and the consulate from Odessa.
The Moldovan citizens evacuated were provided with transport means up to Cairo, health insurances, food products, as well as strictly necessary products. At the same time, foreign affairs representatives contributed to the urgent issuance of travel documents, carrying out the PCR tests, necessary for Moldova’s citizens to enter Egypt, respectively to continue their trip by a special airship made available by the government of Ukraine.
The MAEIE’s crisis cell initially administered a list of 31 people, who wanted to return to Moldova, with 150,000 lei allocated from the Intervention Fund for the evacuation mission, on 19 May 2021.
