On election day, video recording system to operate in polling stations

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission yesterday made amendments to the Regulation on the operation of the Video Recording System in the polling stations.
According to the changes, the video recording system, which has no internet connection, will be functional and active only on polling day, from the start of the preparatory electoral operations on opening the polling station to the completion of totaling the voting results by members of the electoral bureau of the polling station.
The system is an additional measure to secure and ensure the transparency of the voting process, election operations on election day, including against possible electoral fraud. At the same time, the system will not be used in the mobile ballot box and in the polling station.
The CEC reiterates that the installation of video cameras in polling stations must not compromise the secrecy of the vote. Their installation and activity will not target polling stations, voter lists, will not affect voters' privacy and their personal data. The images will not be transmitted online, but stored on a separate device and in case of possible electoral disputes, they can be used as evidence for their examination and resolution.
