Moldovan president says Transnistrian conflict settlement must take place by peaceful means, through dialogue

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today morning had a meeting with the representatives of the 3+2 format of negotiations, mediators and observers in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, the presidential press service has reported.
The delegation is led by Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Transnistrian Settlement Process on behalf of Sweden Thomas Mayr-Harting, on a fact-collecting visit to Moldova.
„We discussed the pandemic situation and I confirmed our openness to further provide support, vaccines and equipment for backing the efforts of combating the pandemic on the left bank of Dniester. At the same time, we referred to the situation in terms of the human rights in the region and the need to ensure the free movement between the two banks of Dniester,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The head of state also discussed with representatives of the 3+2 format the principles of the Transnistrian conflict settlement, which must take place by peaceful means, through dialogue, with the observance of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. ‘’I reiterated the need to formulate a vision on the political settlement of the conflict. This action must be contained on the agenda of a government will full powers, installed following the snap parliamentary elections due in next July,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
