Moldovan president, business associations' representatives discuss country's economic recovery

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today discussed with members of the National Confederation of Employers’ from Moldova (CNPM). The key subjects regarded the challenges triggered by the pandemic crisis in diverse sectors of the economy and the solutions to the country’s economic recovery, the presidential press service has reported.
„Since the beginning of the pandemic, the state Republic of Moldova has done almost nothing to support the business environment and compensate the losses generated by the sanitary crisis. Along with the team from the Presidency, we started working on a plan for economic recovery and we have already the European Union’s support to this end,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The head of state noted that the justice reform was a key element for increasing the local and foreign investments, developing businesses and create jobs. Sandu voiced hope that the next parliament would back these efforts. At the same time, it is vital for us to stop the corruption, which will allow us to mobilize the domestic resources for the economic development.
For their part, the CNPM representatives touched upon the lack of measures of supporting the business environment on behalf of the government, the importance of digitalization in all sectors, the need to ensure access to cheaper financial sources, as well as the necessity of an institutionalized dialogue between the business associations and state’s institutions.
The head of state gave assurances that she would support the entrepreneurs in continuation. ‘’We will to our utmost to attract more foreign resources for economic development. We can do people’s lives better only by ensuring a sustainable economic development,’’ Maia Sandu added.
