Chisinau, 4 June /MOLDPRES/- A European Commission delegation arrived in Chisinau and provided details on economic recovery plan worth 600 million euros forecast for Moldova.
President Maia Sandu and Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Katarina Mathernova held a joint press conference today and presented details on economic recovery plan forecast by the European Union for Moldova.
According to the European official, the Republic of Moldova is the only state in the Neighborhood Partnership that benefits from the recovery plan. "It is a measure of solidarity that the European Union shows to the Republic of Moldova, the Moldovan state being the only country in the Neighborhood Partnership that benefits from this aid, just as Moldova was the first country to receive vaccine through the COVAX platform," Katarina Mathernova said.
She said that the financial resources planned by the European Union are aimed at supporting five concrete areas: sound management of public money - 220 million euros, support for SMEs - 100 million euros, investment in infrastructure - 230 million euros, human resources development - 25 million euros and justice reform - 25 million euros.
Maia Sandu said that the aid provided by the European Union comes at a time of great difficulty for the Republic of Moldova, and noted that all the measures of economic recovery will come only if the Moldovan state meets a number of conditions. "These funds will be available for Moldova, only if the authorities demonstrate clear actions of reforms, implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, recovery of systemic issues related to justice, the functioning of democratic institutions," said Maia Sandu.
An economic recovery plan of 600 million euros for the next three years for the Republic of Moldova was announced on 2 June by the European Commission.
