Moldovan president meets U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

Chisinau, 4 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today morning had a meeting with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent. The official is in Moldova, to participate in a fact-collecting visit by the representatives of the observers and mediators in the 5+2 format of Transnistrian settlement, the presidential press service has reported.  

„We exchanged opinions on the consultations held by the 3+2 groups in the last days; we discussed priority subjects from this period – combating the pandemic and the vaccination campaign, including the support which we will provide in continuation to the people from the Transnistrian region to this end,’’ Maia Sandu said. 

At the discussion, the head of state expressed concern about the situation in terms of the human rights in the region and reiterated Moldova’s request to de-block the movement between the two banks of Dniester.
