Well-known Moldovan songwriter dies

Chisinau, 7 June /MOLDPRES/ - Singer Iurie Sadovnic has died.
According to Moldovan capital’s Police, the singer’s wife was the one who called the 112 service to inform about the tragedy.
Iurie Sadovnic was born in the Jura village, Rabnita district, on 14 December 1951. He was one of the most beloved singers since 1970s. Sadovnic worked as soloist of the vocal and instrumental bands Haiducii din Susleni (Outlaws from Susleni), the band Haiducii (The Outlaws) of the Arts Institute (1968-1973), Sonor band (1973-1976), jazz band from Nikolayev (during his military service in 1970-1972), Contemporanul band (1977-78) and Bucuria band (1979-1982) of the Chisinau-based National Philharmonic. In 1983, he founded the Legenda (The Legend) band, which worked till 1993.
In 1999, Iurie Sadovnic launched the poetry volume, Am să plec în Codru verde (I will leave to the green forest).
The singer was awarded the title of Merited Artist of the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic, Mihai Eminescu medal and the title of People’s Artist.
