Moldovan president dissusses with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - The integration of cultural communities, turning to good account of the ethnic and linguistic diversity, promotion of a tolerant society and the actions necessary to this end are just some of the subjects tackled by President Maia Sandu at a 7 June videoconference with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Kairat Abdrakhmanov, the presidential press service has reported.
„I noted that my goal as President is to consolidate the society and unite the people, ensuring an environment in which each citizen feels in safety, feels respected and has equal opportunities of development. As priorities, I highlighted that we want to work out more programmes – education, for young people, journalistic, which are to motivate our citizens to learn more about one another,’’ the head of state said after the discussion. Thus, special emphasis will be put on the development of the bilingual education in the regions populated by ethnic groups, with a big potential in this respect being the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and the Taraclia district.
President Maia Sandu thanked the OSCE official for the assistance provided in the process of taking over, by Moldova, of the good international practices in the national minorities sector and expressed confidence that the differences can make Moldovan citizens stronger.
