Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - The authorities of the State of Qatar provided Moldova with a donation of medical equipment weighing 3.5 tons.
The Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) today received a donation of equipment on behalf of Qatar. This is the second humanitarian assistance action for Moldova after Qatar was the first Islamic country to provide medical assistance to the Moldovan state in May 2020.
The medical equipment consists of assisted breathing devices, mobile and fixed radiography apparatus, ultrasound apparatus, etc.
Attending the ceremony of equipment’s donation, a state secretary at the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, Dumitru Socolan, said that the generous gesture of the Doha authorities was meant to emphasize the friendship between the two nations. ‘’The symbolism of this gesture is meant to stress the ascendant character of the relations between the two states. It is about a friendly dialogue between Qatar and Moldova, which we want to deepen,’’ Socolan noted.
Moldova’s Ambassador to Doha Victor Tvircun said the consignment of medical equipment provided was the result of appeals by the Moldovan leadership to the Qatari authorities. ‘’The Moldovan side proposed to the authorities from Qatar the list of medical equipment which the Moldovan medical institutions absolutely need,’’ Tvircun noted.
The Qatari authorities did not make public the value of the medical equipment donated. They said the donation was an act of friendship and it is not counted in money.
