National mourning day declared in Moldova for 9 June, given funerals of Moldovan singer

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today signed a decree declaring 9 June as mourning day all over Moldova, in connection with the funerals of singer Iurie Sadovnic, the presidential press service has reported.
The national mourning is established given the departure of the well-known singer and composer of light and folk music, promoter of national and cultural values.
Under the presidential decree, the state flags will be half mast all over the country and at 12:00, the singer’s memory will be honoured by standing silent for one minute. The funeral ceremony will be forecast live by the Teleradio-Moldova public company.
At the same time, the public authorities, enterprises and organizations are recommended on 9 June 2011 to give up the holding of mass entertainment actions and the editorial staffs of newspapers, radio and TV stations – to take into account the specific character of this day when editing publications and creating programmes.
