Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM) demands the allocation of 47 million lei from the reserve fund for the compensation of damages inflicted to the farmers hit by natural calamities.
At a today’s news briefing, Minister Ion Perju reasoned the need to urgently earmark the aforementioned sum, in order to compensate the damages of the farmers who in 2020 were affected by drought and presently – by floods and hail.
At the same time, the official also asked for financial allocations to buy anti-hail rockets. Perju noted that the meteorological instability would continue and can affect the crops this year. ‘’We started a pretty good farming year in comparison with what we had in 2020; yet, the climate changes hit us more and more, in accordance with the reports by the territorial commissions for emergency situations, jointly with MADRM and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), starting from May-June,’’ the minister said.
According to the reports to which Ion Perju referred, in particular, 29 settlements from 14 districts were hit. The material damages inflicted during half a month amounted to 35 million lei, of which 30 million lei regards agricultural crops alone.
Meteorologists forecast unstable weather for all June.
