UEFA EURO 2020 starts today

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - The final tournament of the European Football Championship 2020 – EURO 2020 – starts one year later than scheduled, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The match Italy – Turkey will be played on Stadio Olimpico from Rome today starting from 22:00.

The final tournament takes place in special conditions, in 11 cities on the European continent, with reduced physical presence of audience, varying from 25 to 65 per cent of the stadiums’ capacity.

Those 24 teams participating in EURO 2020 are divided into six groups; the strongest one is the F group, which includes the world champion France, European champion Portugal, Germany and Hungary.

In 2020, the 60th anniversary of the competition’s foundation was marked and the European Championship should have been held initially in 12 cities during 12 June – 12 July 2020.
