Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met a group of mothers who take care of children with severe disabilities, the presidential press service has reported.
„I listened for their trouble and we together looked for solutions to the problems signaled, which represent a daily reality for them. To improve the living of these people and make it easier, it is necessary that we change both the laws and the attitude of the authorities,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The head of state noted that the legislation on the personal assistant of these children must be amended, so that their parents or other applicants do not wait for the allotment of the concerned state for years and the financing of the assistants should be made from the state budget. Also, President Maia Sandu said that the allowances must be increased and the process of medicines’ compensations should be rethought.
„And one of the biggest challenges for this category of people – children and implicitly their families – remains the access to education, including their social integration. These are natural things, which yet for many of them become non-overcomable obstacles – and the state is obliged to act. This is one of the important tasks for the future government,’’ the Moldovan president stressed.
