Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu discussed with a group of former deportees and their descendants at the Presidency today. The people said that, although 30 years had passed since the state committed to do justice for the suffering they experienced, most problems remained unsolved, the presidential press service has reported.

„The biggest problem deals with the recovery of the assets confiscated when their families were exiled or with the providing of fit compensations for them. People are obliged to go to courts for years to prove their rights and the files demanded by authorities are full of acts hard to be got or which exclude each other. In fact, laws seem to be made not for but against the former deportees. Even the fate of the  building assigned for a museum of  deportations is uncertain,’’ Maia Sandu said.

The interlocutors agreed that an audit on the recovery of assets was needed. According to the head of state, a special entity, in charge of the problem of the former deportees, due to be set up at the government, might deal with this, as well as other aspects. ‘’This structure should be made up of dedicated people who know the matter – historians who studied the subject, jurists, as well as descendants of the deported families,’’ the Moldovan president stressed.
