Pregnant women can be vaccinated against Covid-19

Chisinau, 17 June /MOLDPRES/ - Pregnant women and the ones who nurse can be vaccinated against the new-type coronavirus.

At a today’s event organized by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, a physician obstetrician gynecologist, Maxim Calaraș, said that there is no data proving that the fetus might be affected by the administering of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine to a pregnant woman; hence, pregnant women can get vaccinated against this virus.

The physician noted that, in the case of nursing, the antibodies got at the vaccination switch also the fetus and recommended that the immunization takes place starting from the second quarter, after the organo-genesis process is over.

Maxim Calaraș also said that studies had showed that, being pregnant, the woman was no longer predisposed to be infected. Yet, the infections of coronavirus on pregnant women showed that they developed much severer forms.

According to the specialist, children cannot be vaccinated against Covid-19 for the time being.
