Moldovan acting PM participates in summit of regional organization's heads of state, government

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi on 17 June participated in the Summit of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) at the level of heads of state and government, held in Antalya, Turkey, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The main subjects on the agenda of the SEECP Summit were focused on the relations of the states from the South-East European region with the European Union. At the same time, the officials pointed out the convergence of opinions on the need of a more efficient coordination at the regional level on subjects of common interest, especially in the context of the challenges in the world.  

The discussion reconfirmed the political commitment of the participating states for strengthening the cooperation regionally, including in the context of combating the pandemic and its effects. Following the discussions, the participants adopted a Joint Declaration and the Strategy of Development of the South-East Europe (SEE 2030).

Acting PM Aureliu Ciocoi highlighted the major role of the European Union in providing support to the region on the pandemic period through financial assistance, medical equipment, vaccine consignments. Also, Ciocoi welcomed the results of the Turkish chairmanship-in-office and the contribution brought to the sectoral cooperation through the events organized.  

The Moldovan diplomacy head noted the value added of Moldova’s participation in SEECP, which in the 25 years of its existence has proved its relevance as the principal political forum of dialogue in the region, with an essential role in facilitating the rapprochement of the participating countries with the European structures.
