Production of Moldovan feature films survives only due to foreign partners

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan industry of feature films survives only due to foreign cultural projects.

The co-founder of the YOUBESC Film Production House, Sergiu Cumatrenco Jr., has informed that he would start shootings for three movies in Bucharest, Moscow and Moldova. He gave no more details on these projects, noting only that they are ‘’extremely courageous.’’

At the same time, Cumatrenco stressed that the Moldovan film industry was surviving only due to foreign projects, which had made possible concrete results. ‘’If there were no projects of the Americans, Swedish, Swiss, Germans, Frenchmen and Romanians in Moldova, the local industry would have been much behind. Presently, the colleagues from the film industry and media can present slightly emergent results,’’ Cumatrenco said on social networks.

According to him, to be competitive, the Moldovan film industry needs to continuously develop its abilities. ‘’Maybe, it is not the case for us to run after the train which left the old station long ago, but embrace ‘’the moment due to come,’’ being prepared and connected to the technologies of the future,’’ the film director also said.

The YOUBESC Company facilitated the production and co-production of over ten full-length and short films, among which the hit film, Ce lume minunată (What a Wonderful World), inspired from the tragic events from 7 April 2009. Both the comedy Miliard (Billion) and other films produced by film director Cumatrenco were appreciated at international forums and the wide public. In 2022, the YOUBESC team plans the international launch of three new titles, created in co-production with partners from Romania, Germany, France and Norway.
