Industrial output grows in Moldova in last April

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - The industrial production increased by 50.4 per cent in April 2021 against the same month of the year before.  

The National Statistics Bureau (BNS) informed that the increase in the industrial production this year took place amid a decrease in the production by 25.8 per cent in April 2020 against the same month of 2019.  

The growth of the production in April this year was prompted by increases in the extractive industry (+71.5 per cent), processing industry (+51.6 per cent) and in the production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, warm water and conditioned air (+40.8 per cent), generating the increase in the production per all the industry by 1.9, 42.1 and, respectively, 6.4 per cent.   

At the same time, statisticians in April 2021 found out a 2.1-per cent growth of the production the food industry. Substantial increases were recorded in the following activities: fabrication of other food products – two-fold more; processing and tinning of fish, crustaceans and mollusks – by 98.9 per cent; fabrication of bakery products and the farinaceous products – by 32 per cent; fabrication of preparations for animal’s fodder – 17.4 per cent; production, processing and tinning of meat and meat products – by 13.9 per cent; making dairy products – by 2.9 per cent.     

At the same time, statisticians registered decreases in the industrial production at the following activities of the food industry: fabrication of oils and vegetable and animals fats – by 90.8 per cent (causing a 3.6-per cent cut in all industry); fabrication of miller’s products, starch and starch products – by 16 per cent (-0.1 per cent).
