Moldova's Gross Domestic Product increases by 1.8 per cent in first quarter of 2021

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - Statistic data put out by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS) shows that the national economy has entered an ascendant trajectory in the first quarter of this year: the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) amounted to 46.5 billion lei, recording a real increase of 1.8 per cent. The re-launch of the investment activity, domestic consumption and economic activity are decisive factors which favoured this growth, the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry’s information and mass media communication service has reported.
According to categories of resources, the positive influence was generated by the sectors where the revival was felt most of all: the wholesale and retail trade (+0.7 per cent contribution to GDP), processing industry (0.6 per cent contribution to GDP), information and communication (0.4 contribution to GDP); real estate transactions (0.4 per cent contribution to GDP), constructions (0.4 per cent contribution to GDP), production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, warm water and conditioned air (0.3 per cent contribution to GDP), etc.
The positive evolution of the domestic retail trade and the one of services provided to residents shows an improvement of the population’s demand, generating a 4.5-per cent growth of the Gross Value Added.
