Moldovan farmers testing technique for harvest campaign

Chisinau, 30 June /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM) announced today that the process of testing the technique has started in the country for cereal harvesting campaign. At the same time, according to the data presented by the district agricultural directorates, in the Ungheni district and Gagauzia the barley harvest on small plots started.
Cereals are usually harvested on the driest days and with high temperatures, which increases the risk of fires, or, MADRM warns farmers to exercise maximum caution and comply with the rules during the cereal harvesting campaign to avoid risks and reduce losses.
Producers are urged to increase crop protection and reduce agricultural production losses; to continuously inform managers and specialists about the responsibility to comply with the legislation, norms and rules of labor protection and fire protection, as well as to organize trainings for the personnel involved in the harvesting campaign.
Manufacturers have the responsibility to ensure strict control of all buildings intended for the storage and storage of grain and fodder, as well as to prohibit smoking and open fire on fields, stubble, areas, combines or means of transport in the field subject to harvesting.
At the same time, in case of registration of possible exceptional incidents, in the sense of the recommended ones, the emergency information of the authorized special services is requested, including the ministry. According to the information, held by the agricultural directorates, for the harvest of the current year, cereal crops were sown on an area of about 418.9 thousand ha, including: 318 thousand ha with autumn and spring wheat, 64 thousand ha with autumn barley and spring, rapeseed - 33.9 thousand ha, other crops - 2 thousand ha. The surface of cereal crops, compared to last year (389.8 thousand ha), is higher by about 7%, and compared to 2019, is smaller by about 5% (444.2 thousand ha).
