60 border guards to learn how to drive boats, ships of small tonnage

Chisinau, 2 July /MOLDPRES/- Over 60 employees of the subdivisions of the South Regional Border Police Directorate have enrolled in training courses to get boat or tonnage driver certificates.
According to the General Inspectorate of Border Police, yesterday, the first 30 border guards took the exam to obtain the right to drive boats. Each of the candidates had to demonstrate theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and their abilities were assessed by a team of instructors of the Naval Agency of the Republic of Moldova.
From the start of the practical test, the evaluators informed about the safety and security norms when handling floating means of transport on rivers and in water basins.
The leadership of the General Inspectorate of Border Police said that the training courses aim to improve the skills and professional abilities of Border Police employees, being part of the program of continuous training of officials with special status of MAI.
The navigator certificate is valid for three years.
